My plan for the city
"As a wife, mother, grandmother and business owner, it's time to make Fort Pierce the best community to live, work and raise a family in. With your ongoing support, I will be able to serve you and fight for the issues that matter to all of us."
Fort Pierce deserves new leadership. As a business woman, I understand the intricacies of creating wealth which gives me the knowledge to understand how supporting existing businesses, attracting new businesses and investors to our community will create new innovative higher paying jobs. My strong leadership experience and knowledge of local government allows me to “hit the ground running”; immediately acting to bring forth the positive changes to motivate and inspire a dynamic team of local professionals dedicated toward working to take Fort Pierce to a new level. I am confident the right team of community professionals working proactively will achieve our community aligned goals in providing effective solutions for our top three issues we face each and every day that our current leadership has failed in mitigating over the past eight years.
Reducing Our Crime Rate
Just in 2018-19 our total crime rate in the City of Fort Pierce was 9.1% which is three times higher than Port St. Lucie and 30% higher than our state average. Maintaining exceptional levels of safety for all residents of Fort Pierce is imperative.
Transparency is a must
Treating all individuals with respect and dignity
Holding all personnel accountable to the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct
Working together to prevent and eliminate conditions that threaten the community
We must rebuild community trust through a commitment of excellence to protect and serve the residents of our community. Responding in a timely and highly professional manner will reduce our escalated crime rate.
Lowering Our Tax Rate
We need to reduce our tax rates and widen our tax base so we can build a strong local economy. The millage rate in Fort Pierce is the highest in the state and has increased since Mayor Hudson has taken office in 2012 from 5.4 mils to recently 6.9 mils. Our infrastructure and city maintenance have deteriorated over the past eight years. Taking care of our city is a must to improve our tax base that will attract new businesses, help existing businesses and homeowners to achieve prosperity for all.
Reducing Our Utility Costs
We absolutely need to look into our options for lowering our utility costs and improve our customer service for our residents and businesses. In case you aren’t following our city’s meetings online the latest development is that Mayor Hudson voted to increase our power cost adjustments beginning on October 1st and has postponed another discussion of increase for after the election. Meanwhile, during a pandemic. Our citizens deserve the truth and answers.
There are hard issues that need to be addressed to move Fort Pierce forward which have been ignored for the last eight years. As a woman of faith, I place my trust in the Lord, to give me purpose. As a candidate, I put my hope in you, to give me the opportunity to lead our community to brighter days head. As a voter, when you cast your vote, I hope you’ll put your trust in me and elect me as your next Mayor for the City of Fort Pierce.
